When I purchased this book, it was abundantly clear that it consisted of short stories by different authors. Heck, their names were all on the cover and the blurb gave a little synopsis of each story. I don't see how anyone could purchase it and give it a bad review because it was short stories and not a novel like they thought it was. Anyway, rant over.

The stories were uneven, but all were fairly well written; there were some minor typos here and there and one story used donna instead of doona. There were no egregious problems with writing mechanics and the stories were easy to read and easy to understand. As far as content, there were differences in writing style and in the quality of execution, but none of them was a badly written story.

I have several of Terry Spear's books, but this short story drove me crazy. What little there was of the story/plot was great, but there was way too much sex for the length of the story. She's a good writer but for those of us who prefer more substance, she is beginning to cater to the "more sex is better" market.

The other authors were new to me but I would buy more of their books now. Willa Blair's and Victoria Roberts' stories were good but did not appeal to me as much as those by Eliza Knight and Vonda Sinclair. I felt the plotting and characterization were better, or at least more appealing to me, in Knight's and Sinclair's stories. These four stories ranged from mild graphic sexual content to none. I like books with or without sexual content, so that was not an issue. In addition, I focus on the story and don't care what authors name their characters, so the unusual names in some of the stories are not an issue.

These stories were fluff, nice light stories with which to pass the time. They weren't the best, but they were extremely good. Each story was a good introduction to the writing styles of the various authors and at $0.99, the book was a bargain. It's unfortunate for the authors, however, that the publishers of this type of anthology keep lumping together stories that don't have consistent content with regards to sex and language. The authors end up getting bad reviews for either the presence or absence of these items, which is too bad when the story is actually well written. For anyone who is happy to have either no sex or a lot of sex in their books, I highly recommend this one, especially if you are looking for new authors in the historical Scottish romance genre.

Kissing the Highlander Eliza Knight Terry Spear Vonda Sinclair Victoria Roberts Willa Blair 9781507544501 Books Reviews

I have highly anticipated the release of Kissing the Highlander. To have five authors in one books is exciting. Once this was released, I didn’t know which story to read first. I jumped over to Kilts and Kisses by Victoria Roberts. What a great story to start with. Ceana Gunnn and her sister Anna. had lost their parents two years ago and it changed their lives, more than just the loss of their parents. Their father had been laird of the clan, and was replaced by their Uncle John and Aunt Marta. Their daughter Sorcha is a spoiled girl who treats her cousins badly. While their home is filled with suitors for Sorcha, Ceana wandered out to the land she loves. Unfortunately she wanders past her land borders and onto the land of the MacKays. There is where she met Luthais MacKay. The attraction was strong, even the misunderstanding of who the other was. Luthais, thinking Ceana was the lairds daughter, enters into a contract of marriage. Once Luthais learns that Sorcha is the lairds daughter, not Ceana, will he end up being married to the wrong women? Victoria has used her awesome writing skills again to weave a wonderful highland story. Filled with loss, mix-ups and love, Kilts and Kisses is a wonderfully told story of chance meeting and how fate takes a hand. I look forward to reading the rest of the stories.
This is a fabulous group of stories by 5 of the best Scottish Highland writers around. Full of magic, passion, and lasting love, this is a definite must read for all.

Saving her from horror, Samuel rescues her in return for help getting his sister's. But as they travel, the attraction grows and when a tragedy strikes, Catriona must may a life changing decision. Can an English knight and a Scottish lass be happy or will war come between them?

Book 3 Heart of Stone by Will a Blair

She is at the standing stones to cast a spell with the bluebells. Legend says that the next man she sees will be her soul mate. When her dog follows him and she is attacked by rogues, he takes her to his clan. Can she make him realize his love for her before her father comes and ruins all?

Book 4 Kilts and Kisses by Victoria Roberts

When their parents are murdered and the uncle and aunt take rule, Ceana has to look out for her and her sister. As their cruel cousins search for a husband continues, she just wants some peace. Luthias just wants to train his hawks and be left alone. When his father the laird wants a marriage for him, he says he will think about it. When he meets Ceana and thinks she is the laird daughter his father wants for him, he agrees. But when confusion makes way to realize that she is not, how can they be together?

Book 5 My Captive Highlander by Vonda Sinclair

When his galley crashes into the rocks, Shamus is taken prisoner by the enemy MacDonalds. But when he sees her bringing him food in the dungeon, he knows his life is about to change. Maili MacDonald has the second sight and knows something is wrong. When she sees Shamus she knows he will be important to her future and that he should be let go. When her evil brother refuses to listen and arranges a marriage between her and a cruel older laird, she decides to help Shamus escape. When problems arise and war is brought to their shore, will either survive to be together?
